I am an Assistant Professor in Law at Durham Law School where my research focuses on states of emergency, human rights, and counter-terrorism. I am particularly interested in the idea of permanent emergencies and how law can confront or accommodate these ‘new’ realities. My first monograph entitled Permanent States of Emergency and the Rule of Law: Constitutions in an Age of Crisis was published by Hart Publishing, Oxford on 5 April 2018. It is available for purchase here.
My Durham staff profile and details of my publications can be found here.
I am on Twitter at @DrAlangreene where I normally tweet about law, politics, the occasional Simpsons reference, and my endless suffering as a Tottenham Hotspur, Ireland, and Louth GAA fan. When not at my desk, I can usually be found jogging around Newcastle Upon Tyne or fly-fishing on the bank of a river after brown trout or an elusive salmon.
